Bake Christmas Cookies at Home 


Anyone else just falling into a heap at the end of the week? If you want to resist collapsing on the couch this Friday night, this recipe for Christmas sugar cookies is dead-easy and you probably have all the ingredients in the pantry at home. Add some food dye to the piping bag and you’ve got a fun bonding experience for the family. Scan the second QR code below for recipes.

Saturday, Dec 5

The Beijing Flea Market Holiday Edition 


You know it’s the holiday season when the Beijing Flea Market takes over Tech Temple! This Saturday is the perfect time to shop for local handmade and designed gifts, homeware, art, jewelry, food, wine and so much more. Come along and support local vendors like Liuba Draws, Pinyin Press, The Hutong, Halo Hummus, Antonia Sampson, The Green Room, and many others.

12-6pm. Beijing Tech Temple. Free entry

BritCham's Green and Sustainable Christmas 


BritCham and the British Embassy are teaming up for a Very British, Green and Sustainable Christmas market. Complete with a wide selection of food, drinks, souvenirs, and gifts from some of Beijing and Britain’s fave vendors, it will be a day full of fun, only topped by fun Christmas activities, workshops, and performances bound to keep the entire family entertained. There will also be a raffle where you get to try your luck and stand to win fantastic prizes. This event will truly be in the Christmas spirit of giving, as all sales proceeds will go to charity – The Migrant Children’s Foundation – which works with disadvantaged schools in Beijing, providing healthcare and educational opportunities to disadvantaged children. The Christmas market will also be green and sustainable as no single-use plastics will be allowed on-site, so if you do decide to attend, bring along a bag to stow your goodies, and a bottle to enjoy the assortment of drinks available on the day.

Lost Puppies of Beijing X-Mas Party 


This might be the most adorable Christmas party of all…The Lost Puppies Christmas Party, which will be held at a secret festive location near the Llama temple this Saturday, Dec 5. Only 30 dog tickets are available, and although you don’t need a dog to come along, you do need a ticket, which includes dinner and a drink, so don’t delay. In addition, you can enjoy plenty of mulled wine, fresh mulled apple cider, a secret santa for doggos, a silent auction on some great dog and human products, pet portraits, holiday photography, and more!

International Newcomers' Network 2020 Bazaar 


Whether you are new to Beijing yourself, or a long-time fixture, the INN crowd surely has something for you. Come along to their 2020 Holiday Bazaar. This Saturday, the Children’s House Montessori Kindergarten will host a Christmas Bazaar for its children and their parents. It promises to be a fun-filled morning with arts and craft activities and a bazaar and is a great opportunity to check out the school if you are thinking about enrolling your child.

Sunday, Dec 6

City Church Christmas Extravaganza 


Christmas isn’t just about cookies and markets after all, and while this Christmas extravaganza will feature tons of fun activities and tasty treats like a Great Christmas Search, games, an interactive story, photo booth, performance, Christmassy crafts, lip-smacking snacks (free hot chocolate as well), it will also be about rediscovering the real reason for the season

3-5.30pm. 21st Century Hotel. RMB 100 per family

Meet Santa Claus at the Embassy of Switzerland 


Now we don’t want to set off a stampede here, but word has it that Santa himself will be appearing at the Swiss Embassy this coming Sunday. As well as a visit from the jolly fellow himself, there will be some truly delicious traditional treats and plenty of holiday cheer. This event is limited to a maximum of 50 people, and registration via email (info@swissclubbeijing.com) is mandatory so don’t delay!

2.30-6pm. Embassy of Switzerland. RMB 180 members / RMB 280 non-members / RMB 130 children 5-12 / children under 5 free
